If I had one word to describe Kate, I think it would be Lovely… ooor Angelic. But I’m glad I don’t have to limit myself to that because she is such a dynamic woman. But it’s so fun to photograph her flawless porcelain skin and PIERCING blue eyes, she is not only a joy, but so inspiring. Since meeting her she has brought so much light to my life, her positive attitude is contagious. Kate is a phenomenal jazz singer and an actress, and she’s basically killin’ it. Chase is one of my super cool CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) clients. He’s finishing up his studies as a puppeteer. When he first told me that over the phone, I hesitantly asked… “sooo… do you want pictures with your puppet?” Uhhhhh, dumb question Lauren. Puppeteer doesn’t automatically equate to ventriloquism… think more Jim Henson style. Chase creates incredible puppet characters and works with stage productions and performances that feature them. So cool.

I think Adrianne was a divine gift for me to start the new year off right. We met randomly and the stars just totally aligned to book this session. Her headshots turned out great, and her manager loved them. But my favorite part of the shoot was gaining another amazing, encouraging artist in my life. Adrianne just lights up the room where ever she goes! I’m keeping my eye on this girl because she’s already a star

My relationship with Emily started where most modern relationships start, on facebook… She is an awesome up and coming photographer out of Albany Oregon (check her out at Emy Lyn Photography) and contacted me first about some gear questions and then about shooting her headshots for her new website. I was totally honored! How fun to be a part of such an important business step. We thought we were going to be doing standard headshots but when we met and totally clicked, we ended up laughing A LOT, and getting a little bit more creative. Here are some of my favorites from our shoot. Emily, you rock, can’t wait to hang out again!

I’m going to try to catch you all up on some of the headshots I did this week back in Los Angeles. You may recognize Stevens from our headshot session last year that was up on the blog. We have been planning this session for a while, so I’m glad to finally have it out and accomplished. We did quite a few looks and went to a couple different locations. Since moving down to Los Angeles from Oregon last year, I’ve been loving shooting actor headshots. My favorite part of the move to Southern California so far has been the beautiful weather. Hollywood is full of fun things to do and people to meet and I’m amazed at how sunny weather makes it easier for me to get everything done. Olivia is one of those fun people I’ve had the joy of meeting. She is a beautiful singer AND wonderful actor. If you’re down in LA this month, catch her starring in Lascivious Somethings at the Ford Theater!

I’m so excited to start this blog about my Los Angeles Headshot work. Headshot photography is what I’m primarily working on while down in Hollywood, but I still do weddings and portraits, which you can check out on my Wedding and Portrait Portfolio or Blog. My central Los Angeles location and wonderful Hollywood neighborhood lend itself perfectly to my mix of natural light and studio work, so it’s an easy transition.

Jessie is an amazing dancer and she contacted me a couple weeks ago about doing a headshot shoot for her dance portfolio. We did quite a few looks including running and yoga setups for her athletic headshots. But these few were my favorite so I thought I’d share She’s a.) smokin hot (*wink* to Jessie) and super fun to be around!

Erika is such a gem, she brought so much energy (and so many clothes) to her headshot shoot. It made it easy to talk through her different roles and goals in the the industry and set up the perfect shoot for her. She never stopped smiling and laughing, it was so contagious. Erika’s boyfriend came along and was totally up for being put to work, he carried clothing changes, held reflector, shuffled accessories and makeup, he was amazing! Thank you both for being so wonderful and having such a good time!
